F.A.Q’s

  • Plain and simple, none. Not on paper anyways. I am however an avid reader and read on average between 50-200 books per year. I also actively participate in two critique circles—one of which is headed by a freelance editor.

What I lack in a traditional education I more than make up for with life experience. I've lived all over Canada and have worked in nearly every industry—finance, fast food, agriculture and even petcare, to name a few. I am bilingual English/French and have been everything from a customer service agent to my current role as an Executive Director of a non-profit.

  • Not quite. I do have a varied taste when I comes to literature and so as long as the premise sounds interesting, I'm always game to try something new.

I do favour fantasy + science fiction over most all other genres and so, given that that is my domain of expertise I tend to give those genres preference.

I prefer stories with character or plot driven narratives and as a consequence don't typically read much fiction that would be classified as Erotica.

While I do enjoy spice, I prefer it to be balanced within the narrative.

  • Not yet! As I have not completed any official editing courses and hold no certificates or diplomas, I will not offer copyediting or developmental edits at this time. The First Five service will include some developmental editing suggestions and resources but is not officially a developmental edit.

  • This is a hotly debated topic on Book Twitter, Threads and BookTok. Often, you can find a myriad of Beta readers online for absolutely free. The problem that often arises with free services like this is a lack of commitment to the job by the service provider.

Authors need Beta reader feedback. It's a crucial step in the drafting process, and chasing down Beta readers for their comments, impressions and feedback is a task that can easily eat up alot of an authors time.

By exchanging payment and setting up a contract with a paid Beta reader, authors can guarantee feedback when they need it. There are protections in place via said contract that ensures the Beta reader is fairly compensated for their time and that the author gets what they need in advance of all of the deadlines they have set for publishing.

I charge for my time and effort in reading your work critically, thoroughly and in depth to ensure you get the maximum amount of feedback possible to help you as you move through your drafting process.
